Please walk safely at Buffalo State! Safe escort programs, available free-of-charge to all students, faculty, and staff, provide a walking companion or a safe ride on campus.
You may request a personal escort to your car or residence hall by calling University Police at 716-878-6333, dialing extension 6333 from a campus phone, or using a blue-light phone.
The Blue-Light Telephone System increases safety and prevents crime by enabling people to reach the University Police quickly from 43 locations around campus. The phones are easy to find: A blue light is located above the phone unit, which features a red emergency button as well as a dialing pad. University Police can identify a caller's location immediately.
The blue-light phones are located in parking lots, on walkways, along roadways, outside classroom buildings and residence halls, and inside certain buildings such as E. H. Butler Library and Upton Hall. Some blue-light phones are marked to serve as stops for the escort van.
