Records Access

Public Access to Records of the State University of New York:

Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)

Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law Article 6 §§ 84–90) requires that entities within the State University of New York (SUNY) make certain records available to the public. The law requires each campus and the system administration of SUNY to designate records access officers. Requests for information from the campus or the system administration should be directed to the respective records access officer at each location, as appropriate.

Under Freedom of Information Law (FOIL), to view or request copies of records held by Buffalo State, please contact:

James Thor, Records Access Officer
Carol Stadelmaier, Records Access Coordinator
Buffalo State College
Cleveland Hall 507
1300 Elmwood Avenue
Buffalo, NY 14222
716-878-4350 (fax)
foil@buffalostate.edu

Requests under FOIL should include specific information about the records being sought.  Whenever possible, dates, titles, file designations, or other information that will help locate such records should be provided.

The University policy concerning Freedom of Information can be found on the SUNY Website.

A note to the Buffalo State campus community:  Employees in receipt of FOIL requests are asked to forward them without delay to the campus records access officer. Thank you.
